Vivian Lokelani Rose is back from the mainland after being gone to take care of her daughter. She was making connections for her new YouTube video series during the farmers’ market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula. She works with Ho‘ike Kaua‘i Community Television to get the editing portion of the video before airing it on YouTube.
She was having fun with Eating House 1849 Chef Felipe Mares (she also connected with Dave Andersland of The Salty Wahine) and the kalbi ribs (so ono that Kyla Lorenzo — there’s a Kyla Koerte, too — of Deja Vu Surf Hawai‘i had a double helping!) offering for the farmers’ market.
Isobel Storch of Lanipo Farms said the chocolate persimmons (yes, they’re grown on Kaua‘i) are now in season, and Mark Jones is looking for the old-style chop suey to use his freshly-harvest chop -suey potato (the now name is “jacama”) in. Anyone remember Hanama‘ulu Cafe or Lihu‘e Cafe?
