William ‘Bobby’ C. Rita
William “Bobby” C. Rita passed away on Dec. 10, 2020, at the age of 85, in Kalaheo.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1935, in Kapaa, and was a veteran with the U.S. Army and also a heavy-equipment operator for McBryde Sugar Compny.
He was preceded in death by parents William and Flora Rita, son Eric Rita, and sisters Alice and Elsie.
He is survived by wife Anna F. Rita, sons David (Leslie) Rita of Kalaheo, Darin Rita of Kalaheo, Gordon (Vickie) Rita of Kalaheo and Brian (Watana) Rita of Kalaheo, grandchildren Shanna (Matt) Gayagas, Shanelle (Kaohu Vierra), Rylee, DJ, Samantha, Todd, Dustin, William and Timothy Rita, great-grandchildren Shalia and Mahina Vierra, Teja Rita, Araiya, Mahriana and Massen Gayagas.
A walk-thru service at Garden Island Mortuary will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 9 to 10 a.m., with a celebration of life to follow. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.
The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Faustina Asprit Tagayuna
Faustina Asprit Tagayuna, 84, passed away on Dec. 5, 2020, at Wilcox Medical Center. She was born in the Philippines on Feb. 14, 1936, and retired as a housekeeper from Kiahuna and Waiohai hotels.
She was preceded in death by husband Marciano Corpuz Tagayuna, and parents Juanito and Melania Asprit.
She is survived by daughter Marie (Jay) Tagayuna Manzano, and grandsons Jayson, Jayke and Jaycob Manzano.
A viewing will be held at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m., with burial to follow.

Catalina Jane ‘Cathy’ Counts
Catalina Jane “Cathy” Counts, 73, of Lawa‘i, passed away on Dec. 2, 2020, at Wilcox Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 15, 1947, on Kaua‘i. She retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a Desert Storm veteran.
She was preceded in death by father Solomon Vegas and mother Jane Vegas.
She is survived by husband Daniel (Dan) Counts, son Kyle Rajkowski, granddaughter Jennifer (Jacob) Busick of Missouri, sister Candita (Alan Mendoro), brothers Joseph (Janet), Charles (Betty-Ann), Bob (Angie) and Vincent (Josephine), six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to the COVID pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date, with internment at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.
