PUHI — A small structure fire at the Kaua‘i Humane Society which started during a cremation burn was contained and extinguished early Thursday afternoon.
Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel from Engine 3, Rescue 3, Truck 3, Engine 5 and Truck 5 all responded to the call around 2 p.m. yesterday.
“Staff was quick to respond to put out the fire and call the fire department who quickly walked us through the situation,” KHS executive director Nicole Crane said later in the day.
The fire was contained shortly thereafter.
No injuries and Crane only reported a little roof damage to the room, which is separated from the main building.
“Everyone is safe, staff and the critters,” Crane said. “We’re grateful to KFD.”
