Larry Isamu Nagata
Larry Isamu Nagata passed away on Nov. 7, 2020, at his residence. He was born on June 16, 1932, in Waimea.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a civilian guard for the Department of Defense.
He was preceded in death by wife Gladys Taguma Nagata, parents Choshiro and Haruko Nagata, and brother Alvin Nagata.
He is survived by son Nathan Nagata of Kalaheo, daughter Natalie (Gary) Umipeg of California, grandchildren Brandon (Ginny) Umipeg, Kiani Nagata, Andrew Umipeg, Sienna Nagata, Trinity Nagata, Austyn Raines, Chad Layosa, La‘i Kauli‘i and Cameron Kauli‘i, and great-grandchildren Gracey Umipeg and Delylah Umipeg.
Private services will be held at a later date due to COVID-19.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marcelina ‘Marcie’ Tabalno Bumacod
Marcelina “Marcie” Tabalno Bumacod, 84, of Lihu‘e, passed away at home on Nov. 20, 2020. She was born on Nov. 2, 1936, in Alaminas, Pangasinan, Philippines, and retired from McBryde Sugar Company as a field worker.
She was preceded in death by husband Ramon Bumacod Sr., parents Segundo and Januaria Tabalno, daughter Rosita Dela Cruz, and siblings Roman Tabalno, Ana Pascua, Henry Tabalno and Donnie Arellano.
She is survived by children Rebecca Garcia of California, Stella (Art) Fujita of Lihu‘e, Rita Barriga of Lihu‘e, Marilyn Barriga of California, Nelie Ann Boback of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ramon Bumacod Jr. of California and Alan Ray Bumacod of Nevada, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, brothers Ismael (Sviatlana) Tabalno and Vincent (Ping Lang) Tabalno, sister Maria Baltazar, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, with viewing from 8 to 9: 30 a.m. A Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19 masks and social distancing are required.
