But we do have a president un-elect?
I appreciated the in-depth column by Cam Cavasso, entitled “We do not have a president-elect” (TGI Forum Nov. 22). I am sure we all agree that even a candidate with an overwhelming margin of victory (over 6 million popular votes, 74 electoral votes) must still go through the usual bureaucratic box-checking steps before being properly termed “president-elect.” And given Mr. Cavasso’s personal election history (five decisive losses in his most-recent attempts at public office in the state of Hawai‘i), I would presume him to be an expert at being able to read the writing on the wall.
Furthermore, given his experience in such matters, Mr. Cavasso would be an ideal candidate to help write the concession speech for the outgoing president un-elect.

Where is all the money going?
I just wanted to comment on the predicament we as citizens are in.
Where is all the money going? Once a political figure gets in office, all bets are off. Maybe not everyone, but a majority are out for special interests, themselves and family for a money grab. It’s so sad to say, in my opinion, most politicians are not in it for the tax-paying citizens. I hope I’m wrong.
But a community politician made a comment, not sure everybody caught it, a couple years ago. Won’t mention names, but BC quote unquote said “this time all a project’s money is going to the project.” That was eye-opening.
Why wasn’t the Nawiliwili parking lot repaired after we got disaster money?

Huge loophole must be addressed
I simply do not understand how it is that the state can allow people to come to these islands without taking a test for the COVID-19 virus.
Granted, they have to do a 14-day quarantine, but in the meantime they can be on the plane infecting people who have done the due diligence of taking the test.
What is the point of taking a test before your flight if the person next to you has the virus? This is a huge loophole and, regardless of any future protocol, must be addressed now.

Tony, unless you are quarantining yourself after going to the Store and work, then add yourself in the mix.
COVID tests will never be zero. It is called mitigation strategies, while the state tries to run its ONLY industry……Tourism. Ige is a phone call away for your suggestions on how to keep the industry going while mitigating a virus with a 99.97% survival rate. SMH. Stop the madness!
Also, you have less than a 1% chance of contracting COVID on the planes these days with their mitigation strategies. SMH.
Ms Jones, there are many things trump can legally do. Most of them are to shore up his nonfactual claims such as ‘he won by a landslide’ which he repeated again 2 days ago. Or that if he doesn’t win it means ‘our elections are rigged.’ That the election was stolen from him, etc.
Possibly it’s even legal to take funds from the Pentagon budget for his WALL, even after Congress denied funding approval. But it’s those things that destroy our faith in the office of President, and our faith that an elected potus would do the right thing. He has destroyed our checks and balances between the 3 branches of government with Barr’s help because there were no laws against it, just norms that trump was happy to disregard. These things severely dent our democracy.
