Halloween was far more than trick-or-treating as Brother Ramzy Salvador and the Iglesia Ni Cristo church ‘ohana hosted an Aid to Humanity Day (Dr. Addison Bulosan and Miss Kaua‘i Filipina Tiffany Sagucio went to help) food distribution Saturday morning at the Kalaheo church.
Jennie Waiwaiole-Vega used the day to host a Trunk or Treat for keiki of Kaua‘i Shores’ furloughed employees as the hotel gets ready to reopen on Thursday, Nov. 12. Dan King and the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort &Spa team (great job with The Ladder to Nowhere, culinary crew) did the same with its Trick or Treat Keiki Halloween drive-thru Thursday, where Diann Hartman’s portrayal of a monarch butterfly allowed her to fly through the stations, except the Kalaheo Housewives’ booth, where she had to check out all those yellow balls flying.
Mahalo to Jasmine and the Garden Island Courier ‘ohana (they even had special orange shirts) for helping Sharon Graham, project manager for the Women In Need housing, assemble and distribute all the furniture to the future homes that are getting ready to accept their first tenants. Even the county’s Housing Coordinator Ashton Varner (remember her from Bikes on Rice? It’s coming up too) took time out of Halloween to help.
And kudos to Melissa McFerrin-Warrack and all (there were a lot of those) those hands who tried to keep Halloween (loved the virtual Girl Scout Cupcake Wars Challenge, Jamie Politoski) compliant with all those COVID-19 safety measures.
