William Texeira Jr.
William Texeira Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Sept. 25, 2020, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska. He was 86. His bride of 60 years, Lahapa, was by his side until the end.
He graduated from Kapa‘a High School in 1953. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was employed by a variety of companies in Hawai‘i and retired from Kaua‘i Sugar Storage. He moved to Barrow, Alaska in 1995, and worked for the North Slope Borough until his second retirement in 2010.
His greatest pleasure came from his family. He shared nine children with Lahapa and could always be found surrounded by them, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. They brought smiles to his face and his eyes lit up when they were around. He was a true patriarch for his family.
He was preceded in death by parents William Texeira Sr. and Angeline Chandler.
He is survived by wife Miriam “Lahapa” Alapa‘i Texeira, children William “Pake Boy” (Stacy Ann) Texeira III, Wiley Ann (Kalei) Contrades, Noe (Mark Adams) Texeira, Wilbert Kunani (Ethel) Texeira, Kimo (Michelle Jacintho) Texeira, Malia (Barrow Brower) Texeira, Kathi (Derek Ahgeak) Texeira, Kimo (Christi) Texeira Jr. and Kalen Texeira, and brother to Anthony (Toby) Texeira, Michael (Bonnie) Texeira, Angelina “Honey” (Lynn Turner) Texeira, Steven Texeira, Rosalina “Sweetie” (Patrick) Lopez, David (Norma) Texeira, Aloysius (Leslee) Texeira and Chanel (Mario) Catbagan.
Funeral services are Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Catherine Church, 5021 Kawaihau Rd., Kapa‘a, with visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m., eulogy from 10 to 11 a.m. and Mass to follow.
Eddie Taniguchi Jr.
Eddie Taniguchi,Jr. formerly of Makaweli, passed away on Oct. 20, 2020, at the age of 81, in Waimea. He was born on Aug. 9, 1939, in Waimea. He was a ranch hand with Gay & Robinson.
He was preceded in death by parents Maria and Eddie Taniguchi Sr., son George Taniguchi, and sisters Sarah “Tita” Borengasser and Marveline “Nani” Gardener.
He is survived by wife Eloise Taniguchi of Kekaha, sons Roger (Lisa) Taniguchi of Pakala, Eddie (Krissy) Taniguchi III of Hanama‘ulu, Manuel Taniguchi of Lihu‘e, hanai son Eric Morris Sr. of Kalaheo, daughter Jasmine (Charlie) Kahepu‘u of Kekaha, grandchildren Elo Taniguchi, Jessica “La,” Eric Jr., Trixy and Ciara Morris, Alannah Girod, Gabby, Nohili, CJ and Shania Kahepu‘u, Wyatt and Cody Taniguchi, Hoku Taniguchi, Britney Taniguchi, 38 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brothers Roger (Jennifer) Taniguchi of Lihu‘e, Wayne (Raynette) Taniguchi of Kalaheo, brother-in-law Clarence Gardner, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A walk-thru and talk story will be held at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. A celebration of life is from 11 a.m. to noon. The family suggests cowboy/casual attire and welcomes flowers welcome. Due to COVID-19, social distancing, facial masks and sanitizing hands required.
