PO‘IPU — Kobe Claussen has a Harry Potter book and is hoping that is good enough for the Harry Potter weekend at Papalani Gelato in Po‘ipu Shopping Village.
“They have soccer,” said Kobe’s mom. “But dad is going to be reminded so they can come following their soccer games.”
Matt McGinness of Papalani Gelato said the fun happens today from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. when the shop gets dressed up along with the crew to introduce the new butterbeer flavor gelato during its Harry Potter weekend.
“Our goal is to create a bit of fun escapism for Kaua‘i keiki following a hard six months with very little interaction with their friends or normal in-person school time and activities,” McGinness said. “We hope to make it fun for everyone. There will be additional surprises like the exploding bonbons and more.”
He said keiki who come in any Harry Potter costume or garb will receive a 25% discount as an incentive to dress up for this weekend only when Papalani Gelato will also have special flavors and treats based on the popular children’s books.
“Butterbeer is definitely a keeper,” McGinness said. “During our test batches, it’s been well-received and often sold out. It’s all inspired by the books.”
Papalani Gelato is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m., Friday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.
Delivery is available Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Po‘ipu, Koloa, ‘Oma‘o, Lawa‘i and Kalaheo areas.
