Congratulations to Judy Page and the Hanapepe Economic Alliance group on the Kelvin Ho blessing of their Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act grant.
This was a great opportunity to make the trek West. Onio Punzal came early and got to walk the town (what time does Aaron’s close? And Japanese Grandma Keiko Napier wasn’t there — Randy Francisco said Thursday is cafe night). And who is the artist whom you need to cross the Hanapepe Swinging Bridge to get to her studio/gallery (yes, you need an appointment), where she has a growing collection of painted stones (hear that, Sandy Poenhelt?).
The Jaxon Communication Group (yes, you need to wear masks, too), which will be doing the Kupa‘a work on turning the Friday Night Art into a virtual event, got to park far from the ceremony so they could get familiar with the space (Kelvin said Onio’s pu opened up the space for the blessing), and was nice to talk to state Rep. Dee Morikawa about the veterans cemetery, since most of the veteran events are nonexistent this year, and wasn’t that Mindy Gipson, the Hanapepe Public Library (yes, they’re open) librarian, among the audience (she said the library is part of the Hanapepe community)?
Kaua‘i Coffee Visitor Center is open Saturday and Sunday, too, despite the sign that says the place where you can sample some of their brews is only open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. And they grind the whole bean brews if you want, if you pick up some packages. We will check out the the Po‘ipu Estates blend.
Happy 10th Anniversary to Marn Zeeb and the Old Koloa Mill Ice Cream &Coffee shop (they opened on 10-10-10), which is offering a 50%-off celebration on coffee drinks throughout the entire month. This is not a trick as trick-or-treating comes soon.
Bart Thomas said they’re taking registrations for the first Veterans Day Golf Tournament that takes the place of the Veterans Day Parade, Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Hokuala Ocean Course (aren’t we doing the Kaua‘i United Way golf ball drop there Sunday?).
