Leonarda Valiente Cadiz
Leonarda Valiente Cadiz, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Sept. 12, 2020, at Wilcox Medical Center at the age of 85. She was born in Isabela, Philippines, on Nov. 26, 1934. She was a retired housekeeper at Coco Palms Resort.
She was preceded in death by parents Amadeo and Alejandra Valiente, husband Josue Cadiz, sister-in-law Emilia Galiza and daughter-in-law Marilyn Cadiz.
She is survived by daughters Leonila (Ernie) Basconcillo and Florencia (Irwin) Nakamura, sons Leo (Florence) Cadiz and Alex (Laura) Cadiz, sister-in-law Andrea Garcia, grandchildren Janice, Ernette, Lea, Lenny, Liane, Lindsey, Jasmine and Jamie, and great-grandchildren Jaydalyn, Evan, Emily and Brielle.
Friends may visit the family at Aloha Church, Lihu‘e, on Saturday, Oct. 10, with visitation at 8:30 a.m. and service at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Delbert J. Oxentine
Delbert J. Oxentine passed away on Sept. 9, 2020, at the age of 71, in Lihu‘e. He was born on March 16, 1949, in Pearl City, O‘ahu. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, sales associate and dietary cook.
He was preceded in death by parents Marshal Lee Oxentine Sr. and Connie Cabasag Oxentine, and sister Betty Terry.
He is survived by wife Conchita Avila Oxentine, son Joshua (Elaine) Oxentine of Salt Lake, O‘ahu, daughter Randi Lee Oxentine of Seattle, grandchild Aundrea Oxentine, brothers Derrick (Cathy) Oxentine of Stillwater, New York, Marshall Oxentine, Jr. of Dallas and Jessie (Lisa) Oxentine of ‘Ai‘ea, O‘ahu, sister Debbie Neves of Ewa Beach, O‘ahu, brother-in-law Grady Terry of Hilo, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. It will be shared with family and friends.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joseph Herman Ikaika Alapa‘i Jr.
Joseph Herman Ikaika Alapa‘i Jr., of Kapa’a, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, at Kaua’i Care Center in Waimea. He was 67 years old. Born on July 22, 1953, he was a handyman.
He was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Ali‘iKapeka Alapa‘i Sr., sister Mui-Lang Alapa‘i and brother Owen Esona.
He is survived by daughter Candace (Sheri) Alapa‘i, granddaughter Kaylee Alapa‘i of Koloa, sisters Leialoha A. Kawamura and Kealoha Alapa‘i, brothers Edward Alapa‘i and Duane Alapa‘i, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held privately.
