Gail Teruko Kodama
Gail Teruko Kodama, 69, of Hanalei, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center, on Feb. 9, 2020. She was born in Lihu‘e on April 26, 1950, and retired as a baker at Ching Young Village Snack Shop.
She was preceded in death by parents Tadao and Shizue Masuda, brothers George Masuda and Oscar Masuda, and sisters Elaine Fujii and Naomi Sokei.
She is survived by husband Clifton Kodama, brothers Hiro (Kirsten) Masuda and David (Myrna) Masuda, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services and inurnment were held at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Leonida ‘Lani’ Abara Cuaresma
Leonida “Lani” Abara Cuaresma, 75, of Wailua Houselots, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Sept. 22, 2020. She was born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Feb. 20, 1945, and retired from the state Department of Human Services.
She was preceded in death by parents Augustine and Mary Abara, sister Evelyn Branco and brother Rudolpho Abara.
She is survived by husband James Cuaresma of Wailua Houselots, daughters Paula (Tim) Moritz of Illinois, Corinne Cuaresma of Wailua Homesteads and Lisa Cuaresma of Wailua Houselots, two grandchildren, brothers Orlando (Carol) Abara of ‘Oma‘o and William (Rochelle) Abara of Koloa, sister Evangeline (Robert) Cuaresma of Kapa‘a, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held, with burial at St. Catherine Cemetery in Kealia.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
