Paul Ko Shinseki
Paul Ko Shinseki passed away on Aug. 31, 2020, at the age of 88 in Lihu‘e.
He was born on May 29, 2931, in Lihu‘e, and was an insurance agent.
He is preceded in death by parents Tamotsu and Fudeko Shinseki.
He is survived by wife Carol Shinseki, son the Rev. Kyle Shinseki, S. J., of Santa Clara, California, brother, retired Gen. Eric K. Shinseki of Falls Church, Virginia, sister Yvonne K. Shinseki of Lihu‘e, a niece, a nephew and numerous cousins.
Private services will be held.
The family suggests that, in lieu of koden (monetary gifts) and flowers, donations can be made to Kaua‘i Hospice.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gilmore ‘Bozo’ Alfred Pia
Gilmore “Bozo” Alfred Pia, of Maui, passed away on Aug. 10, 2020, at the age of 65. He was born on Aug. 1, 1955 in Lihu‘e, and was retired and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents Henry L. and Mecuria Pia, in-laws Felix C. Sr. and Louise M. Vellina, brother Montgomery L. Pia, and twin daughters Melissa Kealanohea Pia Laranio and Misty Kaoholani Pia Laranio.
He is survived by wife of 29 years Sharon A. Pia, son Darren (Lana) G. Pia, daughter Shyla (Brandon) Delos Santos, Chalsea (Peter) Vellina Pia, Henry Kekoa (Jena) Pia, sister Lynette McComas, seven grandchildren, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and pet dogs Mana, Penn and Pua.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, at Norman’s Mortuary at 105 Waiale Rd. in Wailuku, Maui, from 10 to 11 a.m. COVID-19 restrictions apply. Masks and social distancing are required.
A memorial to honor him will be announced later, post COVID-19 restrictions.
