Happy birthday, RoseAnne Jones of the Kaua‘i Society of Artists (and American Association of University Women Kaua‘i chapter, too), who celebrated her special day on the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment Tuesday. Thank heaven for those afternoon orographic showers that kept the group to within the social-gathering limits.

Katie Beer (this is a Tire Warehouse week since Sharron Weber was participating in the YWCA of Kaua‘i Never Forget Sandy G golf tournament Sunday, too) came to support her Zonta (of Kaua‘i) sisters, and in the interests of keeping the group to within social-distancing norms, came back Wednesday (good thing Tire Warehouse has two short work days in a week) to finish viewing the curated Celebrating Women exhibit (it’s on until Sunday). And, yes, Barbara Watts and Malia Crain made sure the Zonta Club of Hanalei was visible at the centennial observance.
And since the event celebrated the women’s right to vote, Janice Bond made sure all the people she saw are registered to vote in the upcoming general election.
How about that bon dance mania? Gerald Hirata and the Kaua‘i Soto Zen Temple Zenshuji is hosting a virtual bon dance Saturday (anyone take advantage of the bon dance bento special — with one flying saucer — by Mark’s Place?), and there was at least one order of flying saucers from O‘ahu for the Japanese Grandma’s flying saucers that go out (pre-orders only) today from 5 to 7 p.m. in front of her Hanapepe restaurant.
