Congratulations to Rick Lang and the Merriman’s Kaua‘i ‘ohana on the re-opening of its eating (and socially-responsible drinking) place located at the top of Stacie Chiba-Miguel’s “new” stairway that was worked on during the COVID-19 closures at The Shops at Kukui‘ula.
Rick has a new way of ordering before guests get to be seated in the new-look, sit-down dining area (yes, he still has the lanai) that is in compliance with social distancing (and face masks are required), and the long table from downstairs has been brought upstairs and given the “satin” look. Just need to order something so the culinary crew can get to work on the grills set up on the outside walkway. The grilling aroma completes the dine-in experience daily from 3 to 8 p.m., and for the guys on the go, curbside pickup and contactless payment are also available.
The reopening experience was a perfect add-on to The Shops at Kukui‘ula (Happy birthday, Pillare Mukai, who celebrated her special day last week) South Side food and meal distribution that flowed through the makai parking lot where the pop-up markets used to take place. The farmers’ markets are back inside on Wednesdays.
Kudos to the many hands (Johnny Gordines brought his key Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau leaders to help, and even had caps like the one worn by Greg Askew during the markets). Hadn’t seen Samira Siale of Enterprise Rent-A-Car for a long time since there’s no charity walk (yes, Joyce Vidinha was there), and Samira is now at the airport stations.
Congratulations to Jessika Montoya Cristobal (she’s part of the Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre 10th anniversary cabaret, too) and Sean Cristobal on the announcement of the new Salty Wahine. The Cristobal and Andersland ‘ohana are so proud and happy, they even have a special for Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce members (they’ve got a virtual Business After Hours coming up Thursday), in-person at the Hanapepe Salty Wahine facility or online.
