Congratulations to Eric Burton of The Kaua‘i Store and Emilia Knudsen of the Kaua‘i Community Pantry that reopened on Monday closing in July in order for Burton to transition “from vine to vine!” Mahalo to Dennis and Kaui Neves on the big box of food contributions…Emilia had never seen such a big can of sardines! Look for the sign along the highway in Kapa‘a, Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.

Kudos and congratulations to Pomai Burkart and the Kaikeha ‘ohana on pulling off the two-day Garden Island Boogie Board Contest (did you get to see the Wiliwili blooms at the Prince Kuhio Park? Well done, Royal Order of Kamehameha, Chapter No. 3 Kaumuali‘i!) where Alden Alayvilla and Mel Rapozo (wearing big smiles from the excitement) were among those motorists threading the road between all those cars, and congratulations to Nash Burkart and Sammy Morretino on getting dual division wins!
More kudos to RoseAnne Jones and Melissa McFerrin-Warrack on the opening of the women leaders exhibit where Licia McDonald puts a statement on the women’s road to vote…love that contemporary treatment by Victoria Aiu (you might get lucky and be shopping at Long’s CVS when she’s working), and Robb Jones (no chickens, this time) has a great rendering of RoseAnne’s mom who is a quilter (no worries, Lea Ingram, the Six Women — from the North Shore! — are coming!).
Debra Blachowiak said people needing tickets to the Hawai‘i Children Theater’s “Leave A Light On!” dinner (by Mark’s Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering!) and show event, Aug. 22, need to get them, now (only one night!) for the evening of in-person, live cabaret under the outdoor performance tent where face masks are part of the social distancing event…director Chris Alderete said there is a lot of “electric” excitement! Tickets: online www.hawaiichildrenstheatre.org.
