KEKAHA — Kekaha Credit Union, a Division of Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union, collected 240 pounds of food and donated more than $1,000 to the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank. The donations went toward the food bank’s Spring Healthy Food and Fund Drive, which ended April 30.
The food was donated by credit union members, branch staff, advisory board directors and Kekaha residents. Aloha Pacific FCU donated $1,000 in addition to the $43 collected at the branch.
“We were more than happy to offer the Kekaha branch as a collection site for the food bank,” said branch manager Ursuline “Ursie” Munar, who was born and raised in Kekaha. “Mahalo to all who donated to this vital community organization.”
Proceeds will benefit food bank programs such as Keiki Café, Backpack, Kupuna and Uluwehi Emergency Food Distribution. Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank’s mission is to “Educate, Provide Nutritious Food for the Hungry, and Respond to Emergencies.”
