PUHI — The ‘ohana of Kawaikini New Century Public Charter School are holding a fund drive for back-to-school supplies from today through Sunday, July 5.
Donations are being accepted at Aloha ‘Aina Juice Cafe, Kenji Burger Kapa‘a and Lihu‘e, and Kauai Juice Company at its locations in Po‘ipu, Kapa‘a and Kilauea.
Organized by the parent committee, Na Hulu Makua, the goal of the fund drive is to help the families of Kawaikini students start off the school year with less financial burden during this challenging time.
Na Hulu Makua is hoping to provide as many school supplies as possible for all students, as well as items such as facial tissues, paper towels, disinfectant wipes and more.
Checks payable to Kawaikini NCPCS, cash and gift cards from Visa, MasterCard, Costco and Walmart are preferred. A donation letter from the nonprofit organization will be provided upon request.
Kawaikini is a Hawaiian-immersion charter school serving students in grades kindergarten through 12 located adjacent to Kaua‘i Community College in Puhi.
The school was established in 2008 and immerses students in the Hawaiian language, teaches values and traditions of the Hawaiian culture, and fosters an increased level of hands-on, experiential learning.
