Rabasa Ibia
Paulina Rabasa Ibia, 77, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away on May 27, 2020, at her home. She was born in Koloa on June 22, 1942, and worked as a greeter for Walmart.
She was preceded in death by husband Henry Ibia Sr., son Thomas James Ibia, parents Mamerto and Maria Agana Rabasa, sisters Dorothy Fort and Catherine Delima, brothers Juan Rabasa, Carlos Rabasa and Pedro “Pete” Rabasa, and brother-in-law Joseph Brun.
She is survived by sons Henry (Doreen) Ibia Jr., Robert (Mindi) Ibia and Darryl (Dayna) Ibia, daughter Wanda (Abraham) Ibia, sister Martina Brun, sister-in-law Minako Rabasa, grandchildren Hank Kawika, Schyler, Kaylin, Clifton, Preston, Raevyn-Simone, Kjandra-Sanoe, Kawika, Chelsie, Charisse, Chasa’re of Kaua‘i and Ashlyn of Reno, Nevada, great-grandchildren Chysen “Koa,” Chestyn “Bob,” Chaysen “Kekai,” Kyhianna, Kyhiani, Kyhiarah, Kierstyn, Jayzelyn, Jordyn of Kaua‘i and Jai of Reno, Nevada, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Private services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when social gatherings are allowed.

Walter Silva
Walter Silva passed away on June 6, 2020 at the age of 83. He was born on July 1, 1936, in Makaweli. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a plumber.
He was preceded in death by father John Silva Sr., brothers Franklin Silva Sr. and Leonard Silva.
He is survived by wife Jasmine Lopez-Silva, sons Duane (Cathie) Silva of Fairwood, Washington, John (Tami) Cummings III of Kapa‘a and Maluhia (Nikki) Cummings of Puyallup, Washington, daughters, Lynn (Chuck) Talbert of Mapel Valley, Washington, Christel (Antonio) Pope of Makaweli, Lapule (George) Valente of Makaweli and Joanna Silva of Covington, Washington, 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchilden, parents John and Ethel Silva, brothers, John (Irene) Silva Jr. of Mililani, Franklin (Bernice) Silva Sr. of Makaweli, Antone Roy Silva of Hawai‘i and Richard Silva of Kalaheo, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eli Pablo passed away on June 10, 2020, in Kaumakani, at the age of 70. He was born on Nov. 9, 1949, in Waimea. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and owner of ESP Family, LLC.
He was preceded in death by parents Jose and Naeko Pablo and son Kalen Pablo.
He is survived by wife Sylvia Valdez Pablo, son Chad Pablo of Seattle, daughter Daphne Pablo (Leighton) Otoman of ‘Ele‘ele, grandchildren Kailen, Deiton and Deilen, brothers Ted (Janice) Pablo of Waipahu, Arnold (Virginia) Pablo of Wailua and Royden (Carmela) Pablo of Lihu‘e, sisters Valerie (Dayne) Shigematsu of Simi Valley, California, Celia (Art) Etes of Hanover Park, Illinois, Julene (Jonathan) Kaneakua of Kaumakani and Christine (Conrad) Ramos of Lihu‘e, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shigeru ‘Shige’ Matsumoto
Shigeru “Shige” Matsumoto passed away on June 1, 2020, in Lihu‘e, at the age of 87. He was born on Jan. 9, 1933. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army and was a propane gas installer and delivery person.
He was preceded in death by son Randall “Randy” Matsumoto.
He is survived by wife Marilyn Matsumoto, son Lance Matsumoto of Lihu‘e, daughter-in-law Alison Matsumoto of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Jason Matsumoto, Aaron Matsumoto and Karen Matsumoto, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anthony Lopaka Michael passed away on June 10, 2020, in Lihu‘e, at the age of 36. He was born on Jan. 22, 1984. in Kekaha.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Les Michael, Alfred Perreira and Peggy Wisneski, and brother Anthony Perreira.
He is survived by parents, Mark Perreira of Hanapepe and Cindy Michael of Lihu‘e, daughters Kayley Mae Michael and Zaiah Michael of Puhi, brothers Billy Perreira and Dusty Perreira of Kapa‘a, sisters Ala Perreira (Jesse) Jeffries of Wailua, Misty M. (Travis) Michael of Lihu‘e and Christie Michael Perreira of Lihu‘e, grandmother Marvene Foster of North Carolina, nieces and nephews Talon and Colt Jeffries, Xailea and Bailey Koerte, Kaimaila, Kekoa and Ka‘ena Michael, fiancée Jada Ayon, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Magnolia Lei Mokihana Malina Banquel passed away on June 9, 2020, at the age of 66 in Lihu‘e. She was born on Dec. 3, 1953, in Lihu‘e.
She was preceded in death by father John S. Malina Jr., mother Nancy M. K. Malina, brother John S. K. Malina and sister Nancine K. Okano.
She is survived by husband Ricardo Banquel of Lihu‘e, sons David K. M. (Nelda) Banquel of Hanapepe, Philip K. (Kim) Banquel of Lihu‘e, daughter Malia K. Banquel of Lihu‘e, grandchildren, Kaikane Cardinez, Blaise Banquel, Kemren Banquel, Kannon Banquel, Kaelyn Banquel and Colten Banquel, sister Grace H. Kamai of Makaweli, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

John ‘Johnny’ Lacro
John Lacro of Mililani passed away on May 6, 2020, at Wahiawa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Waimea, and was a retired mason and member of Local Union 630 Mason &Plasterers.
He was preceded in death by wife Helen, son David, parents Vicente and Teodora, brothers George, Carmelo, Antonio (Tse Mei) and Alfred.
He is survived by son George, daughter Karen, brothers Julian (Annie) and Edward, sister Margaret, sister-in-law Esther, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private visitation will be held at Mililani Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 16, at 9:30 a.m., with burial at 11 a.m. Public services will be held in 2021. Condolences can be mailed to: P.O. Box 893204, Mililani, HI 96789.
Bernard P. Carvalho Sr.
Bernard P. Carvalho Sr. was born on May 22, 1940, and passed away on his birthday on May 22, 2020, at his home at the age of 80. He was a retired linemen for the Kaua‘i Electric Company, owned and operated Cobra Underground Electric Co. and was also an avid farmer, rancher and entrepreneur. He was also an all-star basketball player for his alumni, Kapa‘a High School Clippers, where he was known as “Cobra.”
He was preceded in death by parents Manuel Jr. and Georgina S. Carvalho, brother Stanley (Leina) Carvalho, and grandson Waika Wila Carvalho
He is survived by his children Bernard (Regina) P. Carvalho Jr., LewAlan (Karlotta) Carvalho, Bernalla (Sweetheart) Carvalho, Andy (Cheryl) Carvalho and Jon (Crisha) Chung, brother Glenn (Ruth) Carvalho, sisters Yvonne (Masa) Camat and Beverly (Norman Sr.) Holt, grandchildren Bronson, Brennen, Brittney, Brandi, Nalu, Liko, Dustin, Breaun, Taylor, Kiana, Aliyah, Gavin, Logan and Jacie, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at St. Catherine Church on Saturday, June 20, with visitation at 9 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date.
