Kumu hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin promised a special treat for this Sunday’s SOUPer Sunday event that returns to the parking area at the Kalaheo Kaua‘i Kookie (Leina‘ala said Ann Hashisaka does a lot of work for this event) bakery and kitchens (check out their Sunday specials, too — we had spaghetti the last time in Kalaheo) starting at 4 p.m.

Kudos, too, to New Hope Lihu‘e Senior Pastor John Cabello — he’s got a special treat for Saturday’s Police, Pastors &Platters event that starts at 9 a.m. at Puakea Golf Course in Lihu‘e. Go early; you don’t want to be like Leona Perez, who ended up with just a part of the platter. John said he checked with Fran Roach, and Puakea Golf Course is still OK for the Saturday morning meal drive-thru. Kaua‘i Police Department Chief Todd Raybuck might still be at the check-in station.
What? You missed the Cinco de Mayo specials from Mariachi’s (yes, they have a location at Harbor Mall, too)? Kudos to Josie Cortez and the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a on launching Taste Kokua, where Rotarians were doing free deliveries on orders of $50 or more (Greg Askew sends Candace Boxer out for Ono Pop no-contact deliveries, too) of authentic Mexican cuisine. When’s the next Taste Kokua?
OK, time to go see if Pillare Mukai is at the office for the special pop-up farmers’ market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula today starting at 3:30 p.m.
