Night work set on Kuhio Highway

KAPAIA — Night construction work will be performed at the county Department of Public Works Wastewater Management Division’s Kapaia Sewage Pump Station at the intersection of Kuhio Highway and Ma‘alo Road, and Hanama‘ulu Sewage Pump Station on Hanama‘ulu Road.

The construction work and associated sewage-bypass pumping will be performed from 8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, to 6 a.m. on Friday, May 8, weather-permitting.

The work is necessary to allow the division to perform repair work at the Kapaia SPS.

For the work performed at the Kapaia SPS, two-way traffic will be maintained on Kuhio Highway and Ma‘alo Road.

For the work performed at the Hanama‘ulu SPS, one-way traffic in the immediate vicinity of the pump station will be maintained using a flagger.

Motorists should drive with caution, expect delays, and adjust travel times as needed.
