LIHU‘E — The manager of PS&D NAPA, Todd Burns, was doing his part in the battle against the COVID-19 Wednesday at the Lihu‘e Airport commuter terminal.
Burns was helping Spencer Gregerson and Brian Fitchett, both arriving on their scheduled day off, to load about 400 face masks onto the Hawai‘i Life Flight air ambulance that was parked at the ready at the airport.
“This is a really nice thing you’re doing,” Fitchett said. “We really can use the masks that are in pretty short supply.”
Burns said the load was part of more than 10,000 masks and gloves that was delayed in arrival.
“This is just something small we could do for the community,” Burns said. “We distributed a bunch of them yesterday. We covered the main hospitals, including Wilcox Health, the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital and the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital. We also dropped off supplies at the care homes, including Hale Kupuna, the Garden Island Day Health and Bayada Home Care. We even had a thousand we could leave at the county’s Emergency Operating Center.”
The task completed, Burns set out taking care of his business’ own needs by seeking out hand sanitizers.
“I’m going to get lunch at the Kaua‘i Beer Company,” Burns said. “They got good food. They’re a small business, and we can use the sanitizers. We need to help those businesses that are considered ‘essential’ and are open.”
