Q: I have just heard that there some of the CSA people (community supported agriculture) supplying produce baskets to seniors. Can you tell me how I could get in contact with them?
A: The county has a “Kupuna Kare of Farmer Fare” program that delivers fresh produce to kupuna. This is a program sponsored by Kaua‘i’s Sunshine Market vendors, the Hawai‘i Food Bank Kaua‘i branch and the county’s Office of Economic Development and Office and Elderly Affairs.
Anyone 70 or older wishing to participate may call AEA, 241-4470.
Q: Can I garden or do landscaping work?
A: For landscapers, according to the Kaua‘i Police Department’s Frequently Asked Questions, essential work, per the emergency rule that involves emergency-related activities “like clearing out fallen trees or any other public safety matters” is allowed. “Routing garden maintenance” is not.
For routine maintenance on your own property that you are doing on your own is allowed. The rules pertain to hired professionals.
Q: Can you provide the geographic locations of COVID-19 cases?
A: As of Tuesday, the Department of Health’s confirmed cases by ZIP code map shows most cases are concentrated to the east of the island, which is locked in the 6-10 cases bracket. All but the western portion of the island has a least one confirmed case. Due to HIPPA laws, the exact locations and names of patients will not be released.
