During a conversation in 1920, plantation owner and statesman George N. Wilcox recalled the quarantine of Kaua‘i.
“And during the plague (1900) we established a guard at every port to keep passengers from landing,” he told Ethel Damon. “Old Mr. Knudsen was sent back, I remember, and Pastor Isenberg spent several weeks on some Inter Island Steamer quarantined in Honolulu harbor. Those Honolulu fellows were in the habit of unloading all their old, unsaleable produce on us — would send us rotten potatoes instead of the kegs of nails, etc. we had ordered. But with plenty of beef, rice and taro on the island we had enough to live on and refused to take any of their old stuff. Later, toward the end of the epidemic, a shipload of flour was actually sent, but we had gotten on well without it.”
We are again dealing with plague — COVID 19 — and again find it necessary to observe a quarantine. Much mahalo to everyone who continues to work, and an equal mahalo to those who must not. Hopefully we’ll find history repeating itself and the people of Kaua‘i will, eventually, “get on well.”

And some of the seasonal flu sick people are still flying, and you’re sitting next to them kn the plane or train or bus and you don’t get sick because your immune system is working well thanks to your nervous system and your degree of overall health.
A word to the wise, avoid disease care, and don’t be unhealthy when you are elderly. But do be active and Healthy by your own personal daily Health Care.
Take the responsibility and time to partake in Personal Health Care. Be cautious of Disease Care’s use of the Side Effects of prescription drugs and over the counter medications.
Personal health care Must include: Sun, Water, Air, Rest, Exercise (S.W.A.R.E.), but be sure it is quality, and enough, but not too much.
Be sure to eat lots of Vegetables, and some Fruits, Legumes (beans), Grains but not processed like wheat processed into white flour, like bakery donuts, cakes, breads, and even pancakes and cookies; but enjoy Seeds, Nuts, and other totally natural foods.
Honey on occasion, but never Sugar, which is in almost every packaged and canned and bottled food, it provides the high of a light stimulus that keeps bringing you back in a mild addiction. Many sugars are disguised with different names. Beware Sugars have 60 names.
They say sugar feeds infection, well the CoVid19 virus comes by infection.
Do not eat foods that have additives, all those chemicals that are on the label of the ingredients, especially in all those combinations. The pharmacist warns you about mixing drugs made of chemicals, but your food is a cauldron of chemicals.
Beware of synthetic vitamins, many are made from petroleum and are carcinogenic, which means cancer causing, so are some of the other chemicals. Besides vitamins are in food naturally and must have their natural co-factors which are also in the food in order to activate in our bodies. Get your vitamins and minerals naturally in your natural food.
Animal flesh, steaks and burgers, have muscle fiber, but have ZERO Dietary Fiber for you when you eat them, the dietary fiber is mandatory for your entire digestive system. Dietary fiber is in all fruits and vegetables, but not in meats. If you use a juicer be sure to put some of the discarded pulp (fiber) back into your juice.
Therefore limit your use of eating animals that have fins, wings, hooves, and claws, etc. They can be delicious but are not necessary for health, and too much has proven to be unhealthy for your heart disease and vascular blood system, strokes.

If using masks is so important how come we can be infected with virus absorbed into our eyes. Should all Who fear be wearing snorkels and dive masks with special virus filters in the snorkel. Besides snorkel and mask last longer even to next year when the virus comes again. will you have developed natural immunity by then or will you pull your virus snorkel and mask from the closet?
Dive equipment for virus is practical, but practically nuts already…! ! !

The 1918 Spanish flu pandemic lasted one month shy of 3 years. They aren’t even sure of the exact death toll because there were so many dying so fast. If they continue to allow people to travel, there may be no escape from it spreading over and over again. The virus didn’t walk to the islands. It also didn’t drive or swim to the islands. It came by ship or plane. On the ship, there is enough time for it to spread to many people over the time of the cruise and manifest itself quite clearly while the ship is still at sea. A quick plane ride allows the virus to spread to many people in a tightly enclosed space, but won’t show up until those people have finished their relatively short flight and already gotten a chance to spread it to others. Why air travel is still being allowed is beyond me. Why would people want to go on a vacation during a pandemic? They are trying to avoid getting the virus in their own communities. But they don’t seem the least bit concerned about possibly carrying it to another location and spreading it. Those that do travel are selfish and stupid. Until travel is banned and we can keep people from coming to the islands, the virus will continue to spread. It’s absolutely crazy to be trying to predict when the virus will level out and start to drop if they continue to let those that may be contagious go to other places and spread it. All the precautions we are taking are useless if we keep accepting arrivals of tourists from other parts of the world. We already know they don’t care about us. They also have demonstrated that they don’t intend to adhere to the self quarantine. Where is the sanity here?
You nailed it charley! A little long winded but nailed it. This reaction is completely fear-based and trust me there are people that will profit from this virus. The sad part is how this is bringing out the worst in people. The rants filled with hate and racism posted on social media are unbelievable. People need to relax and take care of yourself and don’t race to judgement on other people. What we need right now is LOVE and COMPASSION not hate.
As of today 10,000 people in the US have died linked to covid-19 over the last 3 months. The CDC estimates that 24-63,000 people died from the regular flu virus from Oct. 1st 2019 to March 28 2020 (5 months). That is 6X as many people dying from the seasonal flu. These are factual numbers. Think about it
