Be safe and stay healthy
Kathleen Johnson’s letter to TGI on Friday (March 27) was right on the money: “We are all in the same boat.” This horrifying scourge is threatening, literally, every person on the planet. It’s incredible how much damage has already been done in such a relatively short time. But I have to believe that we are both smart enough and strong enough to work together to defeat this common enemy that threatens everything that we, as human beings, hold dear.
But enough about our ignorant, lying president. There is also a very dangerous virus out there, so PLEASE, everyone: be safe and stay healthy.
Andrew Johnston, Kahaleo
I wish we could truly say “but enough about our ignorant, lying president.” Unfortunately, we can’t. It will continue be ignorant and continue lying and continue putting people in danger because it simply does not care about anything other than itself. And those blinded by its lies will simply allow it to continue doing so.
Do not underestimate the danger that it poses. The viral danger only helps to better expose the danger we’ve been living under for the past three years, which, frankly was obvious to all of us that have been paying attention. The fact that so many people not only still don’t get it, but seem to be entrenching in their positions, is an indication that this country is beyond hope of recovery. Even if this thing is removed from the White House, the damage is so extensive, and the inexcusable behavior and attitudes of those who support it are so persistent, that this country will not regain its health in our lifetimes. This country has fundamentally changed for the worse.
The comment about Trump: sad but true. He and everything he stands for needs to be denounced at every turn. If given another term, much of his institutional damage will be irreversible. If he sees the pandemic as an opportunity thru emergency powers to delay the November election, heaven help us.
Just did a drive by at Salt Pond Beach Park. The parking was full on the beach side. People doing car body work and under cars working. Both bathroom crowded with camps. Why? This beach is never that crowded. Please stay safe for all the Kapuna
While most everyone will agree about your request to be safe, the whining about Trump shows that your heart is more filled with hate than it is with compassion and care. Very sad at a time like this.
There is no “whining” about that thing. It is a menace and a scourge which is DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for what is happening in this country right now and in the coming weeks. The fact that you apparently can not see this is the only “very sad thing” here. 100,000 to 240,000 people DEAD is what they are HOPING for now that they finally seem to get the response was too slow (but the thing still won’t accept any responsibility for it). Are you saying that is perfectly OK with you? The mortality rate for this virus seems to be anywhere from 0.4 to almost 12% depending upon the country…If that many people die, that could translate to TENS OF MILLIONS of people infected in this country. Are you not paying attention? Are you THAT beholden to this force of evil that it simply can not do any wrong in your eyes, and anyone pointing out how awful it is must be “whining?”
IRRESPONSIBLE!!!
Andrew, that was the best letter I’ve ever read in TGI! I’m in total agreement. Everyone stay safe!
Trump is the best president. Stop watching CNN and get real information.
Making foolish statements like this only show how far removed from reality you are.
So much fear and hate under the guise of concern for others. Every thing that liberals accuse others of is always what they are doing behind your back.
