PUHI — Classical music is on stage at the Kaua‘i Community College Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. in a free concert that features Chicago husband-and-wife pair “Duo Diorama.”
“Duo Diorama” is Chinese violinist MingHuan Xu and Canadian pianist Winston Choi. They provide a powerful approach to music for violin and piano.
The evening features works such as Maurice Ravel’s lus “Sonata” for violin and piano, Elliott Carter’s “Duo” from 1972 for violin and piano, and 21st-century works by Choi, Igor Santos and Robert Pollock.
“We are thrilled to return to Kaua‘i and present this Chicago-based, husband-and-wife team,” said Pollock, executive director of Maui-based Ebb & Flow Arts. “’Duo Diorama’” performs modern works as if they were the classics.”
This concert is part of the annual, multi-day, multi-site, international, North South East West Festival 2020, hosted by the nonprofit Ebb & Flow Arts, Inc.
“Duo Diorama” has commissioned and premiered more than 20 works. “Duo Diorama” is a leading proponent of music of living composers.
