Congratulations and good luck to Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School media instructor Kevin Matsunaga and his Student Television Network Conference delegates who will leave this weekend for the conference in Washington, D.C.
Kevin (he’ll probably be at the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation track and field events helping with the electronic timing, too) said he is grateful to the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort &Beach Club for helping with the STN Conference by providing a space where the delegates can come together for practices and conference preparations. Cheryl Brady said Coach Enoch A‘ana already presented the proceeds from the Christmas tree decorating to the five schools that participated in the annual decorating effort in the resort’s lobby during the holidays.
That was only part of the excitement Saturday, as Island School supporters collected for their Emerald City gala auction (flying monkeys were everywhere, and coach Kevin should’ve had some video rolling), and Stephanie Shinno (she got to meet the Scarecrow) was busy trying to collect her keiki to run off to the Lions Club event.
Kudos to Jeanette Huttger and all those princess makers at Salon J for raising funds for the YWCA of Kaua‘i while providing princess services for all those young princesses (they’re still talk about it, and the nails are still intact) during its annual Princess Day!
Finally, mahalo to Civil Air Patrol’s Ken Kriner (great job with “Final Clearance”) and Joe Quentin for hosting a remembrance for former pilot and instructor William Enoka.
