LIHU‘E — Applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Fujita & Miura Public Relations Scholarship.
“We encourage all eligible Kaua‘i and Pennsylvania students to apply for the scholarship, which will award one $1,000 scholarship each to a Kaua‘i student and a Pennsylvania student pursuing their bachelor’s or graduate degree in the 2020-2021 school year,” said Joy Miura Koerte, partner with FMPR.
Applicants must demonstrate how they fulfill the FMPR Scholarship criteria through a completed application form, a personal statement and school transcripts.
Applications can be completed and submitted online at www.fmpr.net/fmpr-scholar. The deadline to submit a completed application for consideration is May 30.
Since 2009, FMPR has awarded two $1,000 scholarships annually, one to a Kaua‘i student and one to a Pennsylvania student pursuing their bachelor’s or graduate degree.
FMPR Scholars are exemplary students and community members who:
• Are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees, preferably in communications or public relations;
• Are interested in owning or working for a small business and/or home-based business;
• Are engaged in entrepreneurial activities;
• Have the intention to return to the communities in which they grew up after undergraduate or graduate school to pursue their livelihoods;
• Are engaged in community service and wish to advance their communities;
• Have proven intellectual and academic achievements;
• Show integrity of character and an interest in helping others;
• Have the ability to lead and the motivation to use their talents to the fullest.
