Jaime Wenceslao Jimenez
Jaime Wenceslao Jimenez, 87, of Kilauea, has gone to forever enjoy the beautiful music of God’s orchestra, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020. He was surrounded by family in his home, when the Lord embraced him in His loving, comforting and protective arms.
He was preceded in death by parents Mariano Jimenez and Catalina Ulanco, brothers Enrique Jimenez, Eduardo Jimenez, and Milan Jimenez, and sisters Felipa Jimenez and Nenai Jimenez.
He is survived by his loving wife and companion, Carmen, of 66 years, sister Hermelita (Rey) Salom, daughters Janet (Gary) Pascua, Pearlita (Denis) Jimenez, Maureen (Glenn) Taylor and Nathalie (Brandon) Jimenez, sons Jesse (Julie) Jimenez and Leonard Jimenez, nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is remembered as a very healthy, strong, active and resourceful man, who loved being outside in nature. Although he was most comfortable in his work pants, work shoes and a work shirt, he also enjoyed dressing up for any occasion.
He is also remembered as always greeting all with a smile. He enjoyed making jokes, being witty and funny. He would often surprise his wife by taking care of errands he thought Carmen would put on his “honey-do” list, without being told. He was very much a family man, making sure everyone was taken care of. His family looks forward to the day they will see his handsome face and loving eyes, and hear his voice, surely telling a joke to make them laugh again.
He was born in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Phillipines, and married Carmen Ruaboro on May 18, 1953. They moved to Kaua‘i in 1966. Through the years he worked at the Kilauea Sugar Plantation, and was also a projectionist at the Kilauea Theater in the early 70s.
He retired from the Makai Golf Course, where he was a groundskeeper for 25+ years. The family was the landscapers and caretakers of the surrounding land of the lush and beautiful Wai Koa Trail (Stone Dam). He lived his best life while doing what he was most passionate about, manicuring and beautifying the land around him with his strong, hard-working hands, staying busy with projects on his farm, and bringing home the fruits/vegetables of his loving labor to his wife Carmen, and sharing them with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a, with visitation with the family from 8 to 9:45 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at St. Catherine Cemetery, and a luncheon after at Coyle Hall (behind St. Catherine Church) from noon to 3 p.m.
The family suggests aloha attire.
