Yon U. Raposas
Yon U. Raposas passed away on Jan. 28, 2020, in Waimea, at the age of 81. She was born on Dec. 25, 1938, in Seoul, Korea.
She was a sous chef.
She was preceded in death by husband Jose Raposas, grandsons Michael Kunio Iida and Kyson Contrades, father-in-law Cerilio Raposas, and mother-in-law Rosalina Raposas.
She is survived by son Robert (Jeanne) Raposas of Waimea, daughters Teressa Han Iida (Derwin Nohara) of Kalaheo and Shelley (Kamaka) Contrades of Anahola, grandchildren Kainoa Raposas, Bryson Cadawas, Kyle Contrades, Stetson Raposas, Kameron Contrades, Sheena Raposos, Mark Kunio Iida, Deedriana T. Nohara, Davin Nohara and Michael Nohara, and great-grandchildren Nakoa Raposas Wilson, Kayden Libre, Jayden Ortiz, Zayvin Raposas, Zaylen Raposas, Naia Love Shimogawa, Brennen Cadawas, Amaia Cadawas, Andrew Arruda-Contrades, Ayden Nohara and Cheyenne Nohara.
Services are at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Feb. 22, with visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and service at 10:30 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Helen Esplana Watson
Helen Esplana Watson passed away on Dec. 28, 2019, at the age of 94.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1925, in Lihu‘e, and was retired from the hotel industry.
She was preceded in death by mother Bernardina Iban and father Alejandro Esplana.
She is survived by daughters Cecilia Suan (Lloyd) Bond, Cileen Suan (Myron) Yamashita, Virgina (Victor) De Peralta, Norma Watson (John) Ross, Rose “Loke” Watson (Rudy) Notebo, Davilyn Watson and Veronica Texeira, sons Ceasar Esplana Suan and Harold Esplana (Juliette Tapacio Sarmiento) Suan, sisters Pastora “Patsy” Torres, Maria “Mary” Gonsales and Euphemia “Darlene” Steaveson, 21 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Feb. 22, with visitation at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, 3168 Po‘ipu Rd., Koloa.
A celebration of life will also be held in Hilo on Sunday, March 8, at 1 p.m. at Soka Gakkai International-USA, Buddhist Center, 695 Makalika Street, Hilo.
‘King of the Napali Coast’ Patrick Tortorvella Ku Malama
Patrick Tortorvella Ku “Paddy Boy” Malama, also known as the King of the Napali Coast, passed away on Feb. 12, 2020, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea.
He was born on March 30, 1944, in Waimea, and was a longtime cable TV cable for Derby Cablevision and Kaua‘i Cable TV.
He was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Lucille Ku Malama, sisters Elaine Parker, Blubelle Kaowili, Barbara Westerdale, Kapio Ilae and Alma Nerez, brothers Joseph Malama Jr., Llwellyn Malama Sr. and Vernon Malama, and grandson Cyrus Malama Carveiro.
He is survived by wife Pinky Ruth Momilani Leoiki Malama, sons Patrick “Kanani” (Tammy Takamura) Malama of Waimea and Jaime Malama of Kekaha, daughters Roberta “Pua” (Chucky) Remata of Kekaha, Raenette (Alton) Lopez of Kekaha, Jackie (Preston) Lee of Kekaha, Lolly (Mel) Malama of Kekaha and Desiree “Des” (Daniel) Kittredge of Waimea, grandchildren Pomai (Mackey), Kai (Nicole), Jaecie (Javin), Anu, Brandee (Sheldon), Byrlynn (Shane), Nakoa, Taryn (John), Tisha (Justin), Tylan, Tyran (Jocelynn), Kaelin (Ivy), Leann (Chase), Jessica (Tyler), Geon, Reese, and Anais, great-grandchildren Mikaylah-Jade, Keiran Sage, Baelee-Rose, Meliyah-Grace, Teivan, Nevaeh, Kingsley, Camron, Michael, Kainalu, Kamaehu, Kaliko, Ezra, Qhaysen, Qhaiyah and Kaio, hanai sons Burt Shimabukuro, Kahalau Leoiki and John (Jodie) Kona, hanai grandchildren Tiare Ruiz, Kawahine and Kahia‘ai Palama, brothers Billy (Leona) Malama of Oregon and Edmund Malama of ‘Ele‘ele, sister Abigail Estacio of Hanamaulu, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 11, with viewing from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kekaha Harbor House, with services to follow.
Alice Judy Diamond
Alice Judy Diamond, 67, of Kapa‘a, passed away in Kapa‘a on Feb. 15, 2020. She was born in Billings, Montana, on May 21, 1952, and was in the hospitality industry.
She was preceded in death by parents Frank and Rose Kocsis, brother Ray Kocsis, and first husband Mervin Lee Weber.
She is survived by daughter T’Hud Weber, grandchildren Chloe and Vyolet, brother Frank Kocsis, sister Veronika Boggess, and ex-husband Daniel Diamond.

Ikaika Kanani Lazaro
Ikaika Kanani Lazaro passed away on Feb. 16, 2020, at Kekaha, at the age of 20. He was born on Nov. 13, 1999, in Waimea. He was a groundkeeper at the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands.
He was is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Dumiano (Gundy) and Althea Lazaro, maternal grandparent David Manners, grandmother Suzette Bali and uncle Damien Lazaro.
He is survived by parents Leroy Kanani and Annette Lynette Lokilani Lazaro of Kekaha, grandmothers Mary Blackstad of Colorado and Sapphire Engstrom of Waianae, brothers Kaimana Lazaro of Kekaha and Mana Rosa of Kalaheo, sisters Chaeni (Victor) Valdes of Florida, Latoya (Yuvanai) Torres of Washington, Leann (Jade) Lazaro Ikeda of Washington, Janae Lazaro of Kekaha and Lynette Lazaro of Hanapepe, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be on Saturday, Feb. 29, at Garden Island Mortuary, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., celebration of life at 11 a.m. and burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
