Alton K. Muraoka
Alton K. Muraoka passed away on Feb. 10, 2020, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, at the age of 52. He was born on Jan. 12, 1968, in Waimea. He was a Concierge with Waiohai Hotel.
He is survived by his daughter Mikayla Muraoka of Kapaa; parents Tommy and Irene Muraoka of Eleele; sister, Renee Muraoka of Pearl City, Oahu; hanai son Treston Bautista of Kapaa; significant other Sharma Bautista of Kapaa; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at the Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation from 4 to 5 p.m. Celebration of Life to follow at 5 p.m. Casual attire, flowers welcome.

Yon U. Raposas passed away on Jan. 28, 2020, in Waimea at the age of 81. She was born on Dec. 25, 1938, in Seoul Korea. She was a Sous Chef.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Raposas; grandsons, Michael Kunio Iida, Kyson Contrades; father-in-law Cerilio Raposas; mother-in-law Rosalina Raposas.
She is survived by her son Robert (Jeanne) Raposas of Waimea; daughters, Teressa Han Iida (Derwin Nohara) of Kalaheo, Kauai Shelley (Kamaka) Contrades of Anahola; grandchildren, Kainoa Raposas, Bryson Cadawas, Kyle Contrades, Stetson Raposas, Kameron Contrades, Sheena Raposos, Mark Kunio Iida, Deedriana T. Nohara, Davin Nohara, Michael Nohara; great-grandchild Nakoa Raposas Wilson; great-grand children, Kayden Libre, Jayden Ortiz, Zayvin Raposas, Zaylen Raposas, Naia Love Shimogawa, Brennen Cadawas, Amaia Cadawas, Andrew Arruda-Contrades, Ayden Nohara, Cheyenne Nohara; great-grandchild Teiva Hesapene.
Services will be held at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, with visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and service at 10:30 a.m. Family suggests casual attire. Flowers welcome.

Julia Ornellas Souza, 88, of Kapaa, passed away at home on Feb. 3, 2020. She was born in Kilauea, on June 14, 1931, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Souza Sr.; parents John and Marian Ornellas; sisters, Mabel Ebinger, Regina Ventura, Mary Ornellas; brothers, Albert Ornellas, Joaquin Ornellas, Johnny Ornellas, Joseph Ornellas, Patrick Ornellas.
Julia is survived by 5 children, Laurie Souza, Russell (Vernalyn) Souza, Stanley Jr. (Hollie) Souza, Paul (Adi) Souza, Jerry (Shaunne) Souza; 11 grandchildren, Kayla Souza, Rustan (Tracy Ogihara) Souza, Christy (Keola) Wong, Brittney (Tovi Boiser) Morrow, Bryson (Natalie) Morrow, Ryan (Mia Soderstrom) Morrow, Stanley William Souza III, Chelsea (Randy) Lawrence, Megan (Kristopher Jarquio) Souza, Taybree (Bryson Ancheta Suganuma) Souza, Ian Souza; 14 great-grandchildren, Leilanna Wong, Kailea Wong, Kaiwi Wong, Briana Morrow-Lopez, Tavyn Boiser, Brody Boiser, Baylee Boiser, Khairah Lawrence, Kyryn Lawrence, Isaiah Jarquio, Khloe Jarquio, Maya Jarquio, Kaeden Souza, Brysten Ancheta; sisters, Theresa Martins, Pauline Fernandes, Catherine Ornellas BVM, Eva Hieronymus; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at St. Catherine Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Family graciously declines flowers.

Jan C. Rudinoff
Jan C. Rudinoff passed away on Feb. 4, 2020, at the age of 77, three weeks after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Born on March 31, 1942, in Philadelphia to Mortimer and Virginia Rudinoff, he grew up in Richmond, Virginia.
He was the priest at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue from 1974-2004. Jan preached about the redemptive power of love and lived that each day. He impacted many lives inside and outside the church. He served as a chaplain to the Kauai Police Department, a Vietnam Vet counselor, and he started the Chaplaincy program at Wilcox Hospital.
Jan was a veteran who served in the Army Medical Corps in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966 after attending the Virginia Military Institute and being commissioned as a first lieutenant. He came to Hawaii after Vietnam and worked for Spencecliff Corp as a hotel and restaurant manager. In 1969 he began his pastoral education at the Virginia Theological Seminary and graduated in 1972. His retirement was spent enjoying his family and traveling the world.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Paula; children, Christopher (Stockholm), Sarah (Seattle), Jeffrey (Sara Jo) Irons (Kapa’a), Joshua (Holly) (Lihue), Elizabeth (Seattle); grandchildren, Chloe, Sabryn, Thor and Orion.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue on Feb. 22, 2020, at 11 a.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Patrick Tortorvella Ku Malama passed away on Feb. 12, 2020, in Waimea. He was born on March 30, 1944, in Waimea. He was a TV cable installer by trade and King of the Na Pali Coast.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lucille Ku Malama; sisters, Elaine Parker, Blubelle Kaowili, Barbara Westerdale, Kapio Ilae, Alma Nerez; brothers, Joseph Malama Jr., Llwellyn Malama Sr., Vernon Malama; grandson Cyrus Malama Carveiro.

Helen Esplana Watson
Helen Esplana Watson passed away on Dec. 28, 2019, at the age of 94. She was born on Oct. 26, 1925, in Lihue, and was retired from the hotel industry.
She is preceded in death by her mother Bernardina Iban; father Alejandro Esplana.
She is survived by her daughters, Cecilia Suan (Lloyd) Bond, Cileen Suan (Myron) Yamashita, Virgina (Victor) De Peralta, Norma Watson (John) Ross, Rose “Loke” Watson (Rudy) Notebo, Davilyn Watson,Veronica Texeira; sons, Ceasar Esplana Suan, Harold Esplana (Juliette Tapacio Sarmiento) Suan; sisters, Pastora “Patsy” Torres, Maria “Mary” Gonsales, Euphemia “Darlene” Steaveson; 21 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, with visitation at 10 a.m. and Services starting at 11 a.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary at 3168 Poipu Road, Koloa.
A Celebration of Life will also be held, in Hilo, on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Soka Gakkai International-USA, Buddhist Center, 695 Makalika Street, Hilo.
Delfin ‘Del’ Noel Gandia
Delfin “Del” Noel Gandia, 65, of Waipahu, went home to the Lord on Jan. 22, 2020. The fourth child of the late Orpiano and Loretta Nelmida Gandia, of Hanamaulu, was born on Dec. 24, 1954, in Lihue. He was a retired food service representative.
He is survived by wife Janice (Sugino) Gandia; daughter Dayna K.H. Jones of Florida; son Jared A. Gandia of Waipahu; granddaughter Bryana Yuriko Onalani Jones; grandson Henry Kekoa Jones ; sisters and brothers, Pam (Greg) Sokei, Gay Ann Gandia, Gabriel (Gayanne) Gandia Sr., Emily (Bo) Fabro, Dalton (Cheryl Espanto) Gandia; uncle Bonifacio Gandia; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Oahu services were be held on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Private family viewing at 4:30 pm. Doors open at 5 p.m. for visitation. Memorial service at 6 p.m. Family suggests aloha attire. No flowers. Leis are welcomed.
Kauai services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, at Lydgate main pavilion. Visitation at noon. Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. Fellowship to follow until 5 p.m. Casual aloha attire. No floral arrangements. Loose flowers and leis are welcomed.
Chaise Allen Lindstedt
Chaise Allen Lindstedt, 38, of Kapaa, lost his life on Oct. 27, 2019. Chaise was born at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 22, 1981, and was a drywaller with Local 745.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, John Tremblay, Ron Lindstedt and Elaine Lindstedt.
Chaise is survived by his mother Michele Lindstedt; father Paige Lindstedt; brother Ryan (Tessa) Lindstedt; grandmother Doris Tremblay; uncles, aunties and cousins.
A celebration of Chaise will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Kealia (Green Pig) from noon to pau. Paddle out to follow.

Virginia R. Lopez
Virginia R. Lopez of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 22, 2020, at the age of 89 at her home in Kalaheo. Born on March 6, 1930, she was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her father Frank Rapozo; mother Jubina Lopez; husband Raymond Lopez; son Wayne Lopez; daughter Karen Suarez.
She is survived by her daughters, Lucille (Mark) Dotimas, Vicky Soares and one grandchild.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo. Visitation at 8:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens Lihue.
