HANAPEPE — The Hanapepe Economic Alliance is hosting a talk story session Wednesday, Feb. 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m., for Hanapepe and ‘Ele‘ele communities, to discuss the status of the four bridges in the Hanapepe area, led by Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami.
The site is the Hanapepe Recreation Center, and the gathering will focus on repairs to the swinging bridge, the timeline for re-opening the Kaumuali‘i Highway bridge, the 1911, single-lane bridge on Hanapepe Road, and the pedestrian bridge over Kaumuali‘i Highway near the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center.
Other issues on the agenda are replacement of restrooms in Hanapepe Town Park, the possibility of adding a restroom near the east end of town, using the town park as parking for Friday Art Night, how the first six months of the revocable permit for Friday Art Night is going, and on-going problems of drug use, theft and vandalism in the town park and on Hanapepe Road.
Is this meeting necessary? Just fix it. State money.
We tired talking about it. We want it fix!(Pedestrian bridge in Eleele)
Please fix it. This is one of the many reasons more governmental intervention is not a good thing.
