Faith Campbell and Jane Narimatsu of Wilcox Health got the memo that Friday was National Women Wear Red Day to raise awareness about heart health. How many other people got that memo?

Kudos to Danielle Doo, whose committee spearheaded the first Keiki Healthy Living Day Friday afternoon following school at Elsie Wilcox Elementary School in Lihu‘e. Jojo Kawamura was selling turkey chili (real affordable!), and Ms United States Amanda Smith was one of several people doing cooking demonstrations (yes, the kiddies can handle the needed utensils — just gotta be supervised). Andre Pascua was one student who got updated cardiopulmonary resuscitation training from the Kaua‘i Fire Department, as firefighters also pointed out where the automated external defibrillator is located inside the cafeteria.
More kudos to Megan Nii and her performing-arts group, which effectively adapted their routines to the healthy lifestyle theme, and Natsumi Yamasato’s class crickets are doing well — gotta wait until STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Night to sample the products of their recipe contest.
Happy birthday to Mason Broyles of Waimea High, who celebrated his special day at the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation boys basketball game against Kaua‘i High at Clem Gomes Gym in Waimea.
OK, time to go check out the final day of the three-day Gifts from the Heart pop-up at Kukui Grove Center. Hurry, they close at 4 p.m.
