Happy birthday to Julia Kenton who got to spend her special day at First Saturday with her parents, Jack and Mariella Kenton! She was enjoying listening to Linden Johns (hes a Kapaa High School talent show winner) on the keyboards at the Bandwagon niche near Pono Market.

Holly Ka‘iakapu (she’s the Soup Lady Ku‘u Breen’s partner during the Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula) and Aaron Abalos didn’t let the misting rain and cold stop them from making it from the Westside to be first-time vendors at the event presented by the Kapaa Business Association. The rain, though, limited Noa Kaho‘omana and Nekeya Gusman to just getting a feel for the place for their aerial art presentation (hopefully, they’ll be back for a full run).
Meanwhile, the Amulacion ‘ohana — it’s not just Sumiko, mom, and dad, anymore — keeps adding to its basic offering of basic kettle popcorn…now, they’ve got the Waffle Dogs (nice and crunchy on the outside when it’s hot out of the toaster), fresh squeeze lemonade, and now, pasteles and gandule rice, and Pastele Deoja…what’s next?
Elena Camat said Oki’s bento at the Kukui Grove should have been starting with the Lihue Delicatessan-era bento box lunches, Monday…gotta go check it out when the 3rd Annual Kauai Ocean Fest starts, Friday.
