Are you ready for the Chinese New Year?
Are you ready for the Chinese New Year?
Stacie Chiba-Miguel and Pillare Mukai will be hosting the Chinese lions (there were three of them, last year!) during Friday’s Flavors of Kukuiula at The Shops at Kukuiula starting at 6 p.m. (but you gotta go earlier than that to find parking). That’s the same night as the big Kauai Interscholastic Federation girls basketball game (Marlene Moises never got to meet a (Year of the) Rat until Monday night!), and are there going to be any Chinese foods?
Have you gotten your order in for the new Girl Scout Cookie Lemon Ups? Oops, the Girl Scout Cookie Rally (kudos to Angela Hoover and the scouts for bringing this event out into the community at the Kukui Grove Center!) marked the end of pre-orders so now you just have to wait for Market Sales that start when the cookies arrive in February…and, when does the Chinese lion appear at Kukui Grove?
Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year, coincides with the first of three Ocean Counts by the humpback whale National Marine Sanctuary people (Lani Tamanaha-Broadbent already saw her first whales at Anini Beach!) and the counters will be out, Saturday (hope the weather stays no-rain).
