The Lions Clubs International Foundation Week in honor of Melvin Jones’ birthday takes place Jan. 13-17.
Founder Melvin Jones 141st anniversary of his birthday will be celebrated with the more than 1.4 million Lions around the world. He dedicated his life to serving his community, locally and globally.
Around the world, Lions are honoring his legacy by supporting those less fortunate and giving to others.
Members of Kauai’s Lions Clubs will be collecting eyeglasses at sites around the island. Lions collection boxes are at: Eleele First Hawaiian Bank, Talk Story Bookstore, Kalaheo Elementary School, Kauai Landmark Realty, Kilauea Medical Clinic, Koloa Elementary School, Sueoka Store, Big Save Market, Crane Eye Care, Dr. Michael Oride, Eye Care Center of Kauai, Garden Island Eye Care, Inc., Kauai District Health Office, Kuhio Medical Center, Long’s Drugs Store, Princeville Bank of Hawaii, Princeville First Hawaiian Bank, and Waimea Recreational Center.
Community members may deposit used eyeglasses in the containers at these sites.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, Lions Clubs around the island will also be collecting used eyeglasses: North Shore Lions Club at Princeville Foodland, Kapaa Lions Club as Kapaa Big Save, East Kauai Lions Club at WalMart, Kauai Lions Club at Lihue Longs, Koloa Lions Club at Sueoka Store, and West Kauai Lions Club at Eleele Big Save.
Collection hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
