WAILUA — The Friends of Kamalani are calling for help, Saturday to clear away the large amount of debris that washed ashore at Morgan’s Ponds following the Christmas Eve storms.
Snacks and lunch will be served.
The county is providing a roll-off for the accumulation of green waste, said Thomas Noyes, the general coordinator for The Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park.
“There are three ways people can kokua with this easy beach cleanup,” Noyes said. “First is to lend a hand with the Beach Cleanup Team at the swimming ponds from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday. The team meets near the Lifeguard Tower. Secondly, if you are at the beach before Saturday, please take a bag and pick out the plastic bits from the debris line.”
Noyes said the other way to help is to share this call for help on social media channels.
The Friends of Kamalani normally hosts beach cleanups on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
