The National Weather Service has extended a Flash Flood Warning for Kauai through 1 p.m., due to heavy rains occurring over the islands. The warning may be extended, dropped or modified as conditions develop.
The flash flood warning for Kauai has been cancelled, according to the National Weather Service. However, Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge remains closed until further notice due to flooding.
Motorists are advised that Kuhio Highway could remain closed for an extended period of time due to a significant amount of water that currently remains on the road. Officials will continue to monitor the water level and will reopen the highway as soon as it is safe for travel.
All other major roads have reopened. However, crews continue to address various areas of fallen debris and utility lines.
The Hanapepe Swinging Bridge has been damaged and is currently closed.
Ocean Safety officials are advising no swimming islandwide due to a brown water advisory.
Beachgoers are urged to heed all posted warnings and advisories.
