HONOLULU — Four Hawaii food banks, Hawaii Foodbank on Oahu and Kauai, Maui Food Bank and The Food Basket (Hawaii Island Food Bank), recently received $8,000 each from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation to address food insecurity throughout Hawaii.
“We’re extremely grateful to companies like Enterprise Rent-A-Car, who are committed to making a real difference in our community,” said Ron Mizutani, president and CEO of Hawaii Foodbank. “No one should go hungry having to choose between paying for food, housing, health care or education. Thanks to Enterprise, we can help fill the gap to nourish, support and sustain one in eight people in Hawaii.”
This year marks the fourth consecutive year the four food banks received donations from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation, bringing the total support to $128,000.
The donation is part of a program, Fill Your Tank, launched in October 2016 to mark Enterprise’s 60th anniversary, providing $60 million to fight hunger globally.
Over a total of six years, Enterprise has distributed $10 million annually among larger food banks and charities throughout North America and Europe.
