POIPU — All that is left is the caroling at the Hale Kupuna Heritage Home in Omao, and the Wilcox Hospital long-term care unit scheduled today, said Diann Hartman, spokesperson for the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort &Spa.
“In the characteristic Grand style, the colleagues at the Grand Hyatt Kauai went big with giving in the 2019 holiday season,” Hartman said. “Generosity was ever present as employees from all departments at the resort gave in some way.”
The highlight of the giving took place Wednesday when a group of representatives from the Grand Hyatt Kauai, including general manager Dan King, presented the Kauai United Way with a check for $25,000.
“Colleagues do everything from box lunches and bake sales to short spa sessions to raise money to support the many island organizations the Kauai United Way helps,” Hartman said.
Earlier, Thanksgiving brought the resort’s annual delivering of lunches to Kauai’s lifeguards at the Poipu Lifeguard Station, and firefighters at the Poipu and Kalaheo fire stations.
“In what has become a happy family tradition, the Grand Hyatt Kauai’s director of events, Marisa Hurley and her children, Olivia and Lucas, made the deliveries again this year,” Hartman said.
The Grand Hyatt Kauai’s culinary team did the cooking and preparation for 300 meals that were served up at the Salvation Army, Hanapepe Corps annual Thanksgiving meal.
“It is great to be able to give back to our community in so many different and meaningful ways,” King said.
