Talk about excitement…Joe Grace and his ohana came back to the parade excitement (no, he wasnt at the Central Pacific Bank parking; that was for Shaka Burgers), and there was a run on his roast pork plate (Barbara Bloemke and Bev Pang had theirs before the parade) that one surfer described as da bomb. But food selection was difficult since Kamehameha Schools had their kalua pork (Mahea Contrades Ohana Enrichment Night calls it puaa kalua), and there was the Hawaiian plate by the canoe club (which tent was Eric Rita working?).

Becky Komaki and Priscilla Badua were doing the malasada (was that lumpia?) for the Hawaii Government Employees Association (Is Olaf going to be in the Waimea Lighted Parade, Esther Estes?) benefiting the county Planning Department…just too much to choose from because, down Rice Street, the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai branch (welcome to Kauai, Ron Mizutani and Ashley Nagaoka!) had Taylor Sakimae and his award-winning Poke Company, the Three Ladies, and a lot more food trucks as well as crafters keeping people busy at the Rice Shopping Center, where a huge Norfolk materialized. Was a pleasure running into some of the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai branch board members who were helping…nope, Diane Keeler was busy trying to get the Walmart float to the staging area, and the Wilcox Health float was big enough to get a police escort.
