The students at Koloa School just brought what they could and the students of the Elsie Wilcox Elementary School got help from Vice Principal Deena Fontana and Jonel Elias (how can the water go off right at the start of the collection?) and the student council in sharing food (more than half a ton!) because they are Grateful … kudos to Holo Holo Charters (was a nice chance to catch up with Dan Sargent of McBryde Resources and Trinette Kaui of A&B Properties) on their first food drive.

Their efforts go a long way toward helping the scores of “unseen” people have a brighter holiday season through the efforts of Kauai’s two food banks.
Samira Siale of Enterprise Rent-a-Car said it’s the season of giving, and Stacie Chiba Miguel was on a cloud as she and Pillare Mukai launched The Shops at Kukuiula’s ninth Holiday Gift Bag campaign to benefit Koloa School. They’re also doing a centerwide food drive a little later, too, with voting for the best store decorations by contributing to the Kauai Independent Food Bank efforts.
Kudos to Rose Ann Jones (you need to check out Robb Jones’ successor to the Chicken Plucker) and the Kauai Society of Artists on opening the small works Big Show that is available for free admission (donations welcome!) daily at the KSA gallery at Kukui Grove Center through the holidays. And how come Victoria Aiu missed the boat?
Laine Griffin and the Kalaheo School Sunshine Express did a flash mob (parents are so akamai about these things) of their upcoming (opening night Friday, Dec. 6 at school cafeteria) “Aristocat Kids” production … hm-m, are they going to do something at the Kauai Christmas Parade (it’s coming up Saturday at Kukui Grove Center!).
