LIHUE — Members of the state House Finance Committee, chaired by Rep. Sylvia Luke, will tour sites on Kauai to view firsthand several projects and programs supported by the Legislature. The visits will also allow committee members to learn about other concerns and needs facing Kauai.
The committee last was on Kauai in 2017 and one of the visits included a tour and briefing of Haena State Park. The committee will return to the area on Tuesday to view the work that has been done since the torrential flooding in 2018.
The catastrophic flooding occurred during the 2018 legislative session. The Legislature passed the state budget a week earlier to immediately provide $100 million to cover upfront costs for remediation.
The committee will also visit Omao Ranch Lands hemp farm and the Kauai Habitat for Humanity Eleele Iluna affordable housing project on Monday.
