PUHI — Na Koa Basketball and the Hoopstars emerged as division winners at the Veterans Day Shootout basketball tournament that wrapped up Monday afternoon at the Wilcox Gymnasium on the Island School campus.
Na Koa went through the four-day tournament with a 4-0 record for the 7th grade and under boys division. Team members include Reimel Camachi, Shayden Mandel, Austin Green, Pili Maglinti, Donovan Abalos, Xavier Demond, Alvin Pinoliar Jr., Ty Kamoku, Zyren Wade-Padilla, and Kaikoa Kanakaole.
In the girls 8th grade and under division, the Hoopstars battled the Lynx to a 33-27 advantage to claim that division crown. Earlier in the day, the Lynx earned the berth for the title game by getting past the Royalty, 32-29.
Hoopstar team members include Alexa Vesley, Mikylah Labanon, Pua Akui-Ramos, Ana Perreira, Cheyley Jacobs, Cairee Quinones, Chaleiah Fabro, Auli‘i Takenaka, Sophia Badua, Keira Caoagas, and Bella Esposito.
