The season finale Waimea High -Kauai High football game marked the end of the regular season for Kauai Interscholastic Federation football, but there are still plenty of post-season festivities remaining in KIF-sanctioned sports.
Kauai High School cross country runner Emma Burgess finished with a top-10 finish in the state cross country event, and the Island School boys finished third-place as a team, in the highly-competitive state competition.
The Kapaa Warriors are the only team in the KIF left standing and their unblemished KIF record in the 2019 First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division II Football state championship.
The Warriors earned a first-round bye with a No. 2 seed in the playoffs and will host three-seeded Kaimuki in the semifinals of the playoffs at 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at Vidhinha Stadium.
Kauai Bowl to host the state tournament
The Kauai High School bowling team captured the KIF, and they will get to stay in the comfort of their bowling alley.
Plenty of individuals and the Kapaa team will be getting ready to represent the island against some of the best bowlers in the state of Hawaii.
The state tournament will this Thursday and Friday at Kauai Bowl.
MMA generates on-island buzz
The recent Ainofea Kauai cage match will host an MMA and kickboxing event Saturday and Sunday at Kukui Grove Shopping Center.
This event is to feature plenty of storylines, and four accomplished MMA fighters will be signing autographs, including Yancy Medeiros (UFC), Maki Pitolo (UFC), Naino Dung (Bellator)m and Ray Cooper (PFL fight league).
In addition to UFC fighters signing autographs, this match will feature some of the best talent in Kauai.
