Yes, the Pleiades, or Makali‘i as it’s known by the ancient Hawaiians, constellation is rising so it’s time to find out more about the Makahiki (no, it’s the same, but different from the Boy Scouts’ Makahiki) where Dan King and his Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort &Spa ‘ohana have a great lineup starting at 8:30 a.m. today … and it’s free and open to the public.
The Nawiliwili Yacht Club follows that same calendar and now have time to check out the costume contest that takes place as part of Halloween celebrations during Truck Stop Thursday.
Sunday (yes, Halloween is already pau), the Lihue Raiders Pop Warner Association hosts a Breakfast for Champions (they even have miso soup!) fundraiser from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall to help get two of its football teams to off-island tournaments (kudos to the Mitey Mites on being the Hawaii representative to the National Pop Warner Regionals in California!)
Don’t forget our veterans when the Kauai Veterans Council and the Kapaa Business Association hosts the annual Veterans Day Parade Saturday (be aware of the traffic advisories and road closures!) where you can still get a chance to get that new pickup.
