Kya Suimour is ready for Halloween with two jack-o-lanterns to create after helping her father distribute more than 200 pumpkins (Sarah Thompson said she stopped counting after reaching 200!) at the Kauai Community Market Saturday at Kauai Community College in Puhi. (HIJoe is back after assessing the program!), where construction class students Micah Moriwaki, Kal Anacleto, and Hizo Delos Reyes were able to get pumpkins for their families along with lunch.

This was definitely a Halloween weekend (and there’s a lot more stuff coming up Thursday — the actual Halloween!) as Ron Wood (did Janice Akiyama make it too?) went to The Shops at Kukuiula for obake stories, and which Showtime Characters showed up for Saturday night movies at the Coconut Marketplace in Waipouli?
Ron Wiley and Lexi Jones had their hands full with the hundreds of Halloween revelers at the Halloween Festival (even Jean Souza came out with treats) at Kukui Grove Center, where they juggled three (!!!) big celebrations, starting with Lori Almarza and Lynnette Medrano-Stine and the annual Kauai United Way Walk A Thon (and Nellie Okamoto of Kapaa High School was ‘home, sick’ on her birthday!)…Lili Conant of the Hawaii Medical Service Association (they were sponsors at the KUW walk) had time to go home for a quick change before returning for the keiki costume contest with daughter Briana Conant.
Kudos to Jeremy Hartshorn and Stonehenge, Divina Plowman and the Tri-High Leadership Council on making Saturday night rock with Monsters of Rock and a Halloween dance.
