POIPU — Rescuers recovered the body of a 64-year-old diver in waters off Keoniloa Bay in Poipu on Sunday.
The man’s identity has not yet been released.
According to a preliminary report, KPD dispatch received a report of a boat hitting a diver about 12:40 p.m. on Sunday. A dive flag or visible float were not present at the time of the incident, according to the report.
Kauai Fire Department and Ocean Safety Bureau personnel responded to a report of the diver about 12:50 p.m. The diver’s body was located about 1:20 p.m. and was transported by OSB officials to Shipwreck’s Beach.
AMR medics took over advanced resuscitation efforts while in transport to Wilcox ER. He was pronounced dead by a medical doctor at Wilcox ER.
