Samson Kapae Mahuiki Jr.
Samson Kapae Mahuiki Jr. of Haena died on Sept. 25, 2019, at the age of 50.
Born Sept. 6, 1969, to Samson Kapae Mahuiki Sr. and the late Bernadette Ka‘iulani Alapa‘i Mahuiki, father-in-law Larry Gene Shepherd and mother-in-law Carol Ann Jacobs, he worked for Kobayashi Trucking Company and was a musician.
He is survived by wife Susan Edith Mahuiki, son Tristin Kekoa Mahuiki, daughter Rachel Ann Kau‘inohea Mahuiki, brother Keli‘i Alapa‘i, brother-in-law James Oliver Shepherd, sister Cheryl Alapa‘i, nephews and nieces Kaneala, Kalei, Kanoe, Ka‘iulani, James and Andryea, grandniece Chloe Alapai, and numerous cousins aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, hanai sisters and brothers.
Memorial services with ashes will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. with pa‘ina to follow, at North Shore Christian Church at Kauai Christian Academy, 4000 Kilauea Road.
The family suggests casual or aloha attire, welcomes lei but requests that flowers be omitted.

George Keoki Taniguchi
George Keoki Taniguchi passed away on Sept. 4, 2019, at the age of 59. He was born on Nov. 12, 1959, in Lihue, and was a custodian at Waimea Canyon Middle School.
He is survived by daughter Eloise Kanoho Taniguchi of Waimea, parents Eddie Taniguchi Jr. and Eloise Taniguchi of Pakala, brothers Roger (Lisa) Taniguchi of Makaweli, Eddie (Krissy) Taniguchi III of Hanamaulu and Manuel Taniguchi of Lihue, sister Jasmine (Charlie) Kahepu‘u of Kekaha, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at the Salt Pond Beach Park big pavilion.
The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Lisa Monique Serrano
Lisa Monique Serrano, 51, of Lihue, passed away at home on Sept. 26, 2019. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 8, 1968, raised on Kauai, and was a graduate of Waimea High School.
She was preceded in death by uncle Eddie Soltren.
She is survived by parents Ramon and Yvonne Soltren, daughters Shalea (Nicholas) Kam, Tara (Dillon) Yadao and Sanoe Grijalva, sisters Kalena (Kevin) Serraon and Vicky (Hexy) Soltren, aunts and uncles Gilda Rodriguez and Luis and Jocelyn Soltren, grandchildren Anela Yadao-Serraon, Aiden Catbagan Texeira, Ezekiel Kane and Kieran Kam, cousins Christina (Vernon) Basuel, Phillip (Sharai) Soltren, Victor Soltren, Aniase Soltren, Luis Soltren Jr., Gavin Perez and Vernon Basuel III, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Conchita Javellana
Conchita Javellana, 87, of Kauai, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Sept. 21, 2019. She was born on Kauai on April 24, 1932.
She was preceded in death by parents Paciano and Juliana Javellana, and sisters and brothers.
She is survived by brother Aurelio (Gloria) Javellana and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Kauai Memorial Gardens, beginning at 10 a.m.
