Galen Toshiro Nakamura
Galen Toshiro Nakamura passed away on Sept. 13, 2019.
He attended Kapaa High School, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and the University of San Francisco School of Law. He returned to Hawaii, where he worked as a public defender, Legal Aid Society of Hawaii lawyer, and deputy county attorney. He later entered private practice with Shiramizu Loo and Nakamura in Lihue. He was married to Nadine Nakamura, and had two children, Casey and Reis. He was an avid hiker and enjoyed getting lost in Koke‘e State Park and racing up Sleeping Giant.
He is survived by his wife, children, mother Doris Nakamura, and brother Kent Nakamura. He will be remembered at All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday, Sept. 28, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. and service to follow at 11 a.m.
Teodora Lagazo Dela Cruz
Teodora Lagazo Dela Cruz, 79, of Hanamaulu, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Sept. 17, 2019. She was born in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Oct. 9, 1939, and retired as a housekeeper with Kuhio Motors.
She was preceded in death by husband Priscilo Aguilar and brother Antonio “Tony” (Linda) Lagazo.
She is survived by children Marilyn (Myles) Suguitan, Eddie (Roxanne) Dela Cruz, Natalie Dela Cruz and Nita (Teddi) Kashima, 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister Clarita (Gilbert) Medeiros, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. and memorial services beginning at 11 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Benjamin Albarado Allianic Sr.
Benjamin Albarado Allianic Sr. passed away at home in Lawai on Aug. 29, 2019, at the age of 93. He was born on July 31, 1926, in Waimea, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by wife Linda Allianic, daughter Juvana Rapozo, father Dorotio Allianic, mother Margaret Albarado Allianic, and grandson Gary Allianic Jr.
He is survived by sons Benjamin (Laura) Allianic Jr. of Florida, Gary Allianic Sr. of Lihue, Mark Allianic of Lawai, Glenn (June) Allianic of Koloa, and Derwin (Lisa) Allianic of Lihue, daughters Rose (Barry) Hashimoto of Waimea, Maureen Allianic of Hanapepe, Anna (Francis “Joey”) Brun of Lawai, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, brothers William Allianic Sr. of Pakala and Edward (Sandy) Allianic of Seattle, sisters Lillian Labrador of Florida, Connie (Merv) Bacarro of Lihue, Rose Marie (Herman) Peleres of Mililani, Oahu, and Carmen (Julius) Nordmeir of Waimea, and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe, with visitation from 9:30 to 10 a.m., service at 10 a.m., and luncheon to follow.
The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
