A high surf advisory for south-facing shores of Kauai and Ni‘ihau remains in effect through this evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Lifeguards are currently reporting waves of 6 to 10 feet on the South Shore and 10 to 15 feet on the North Shore, with very strong rip currents.
Ocean Safety officials advise that the current conditions are for experienced swimmers only. All beachgoers are urged to speak to a county lifeguard before entering the water, and to use extreme caution near the shoreline.
